I started working on this project, and then Covid hit. I moved back to Europe for a year (working at MachineGames) and then got the opportunity to return to the project working remotely.

My main contribution to the level design on this project was the mini Open World area we called 'the Valley' internally, and several of the 'POIs' such as buildings and caves dotted around it that players can explore.

I also helped manage the Level Design team, provided feedback and guided later levels, and picked up global tasks for example I scripted all of the Objectives throughout the game.

Koboh

While I had designed wide-linear levels before, I had never really done anything as open as the Koboh Valley. I researched (and timed myself running around) a lot of open world games ranging from Breath of the Wild, to Skyrim and Fallout, to the Batman Arkham games in order to find the right scale and density of content for our game.
It was critical that this wouldn't be an empty open world, it had to feel big enough to be vast but not too big to be bare, which I feel we achieved.

Obviously with something so huge, a ton of people worked on this area and shaped it.
